Tatoyan says Azerbaijan announces mass exhumations in Artsak with purpose remaining unclear

Azerbaijan has announced mass exhumations in areas of Artsakh under its control while continuing to build roads there. However, questions remain: who is being exhumed—Armenians or others—and for what purpose? This was stated by former Armenian Human Rights Defender and head of the political initiative Wings of Unity, Arman Tatoyan, during a press briefing on the topic “The Issue of Missing Persons as an Unresolved Human Rights Urgency.”

“Today, we lack international mechanisms to hold Azerbaijan accountable or to make demands regarding its actions. Azerbaijan has done everything to isolate these issues from the eyes of the international community,” Tatoyan said.

According to him, this also explains the closure of the International Committee of the Red Cross office and various UN agencies in the country.
