We support Armenia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty
and a lasting peace in the region. Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani
said this at the “New Regional Realities” and “Crossroads of Peace” conference.
Referring to the long-standing ties between Armenia and
Iran, the ambassador noted that they are of great importance for the current
development of relations between the two countries.
“Our common border with Armenia is the shortest compared to
those we have with other countries of the region. But as far as quality is
concerned, it is one of the best ones. It has always been a border of
friendship and neighborliness. None of the two countries have ever threatened
the other one; both have always created opportunities for mutual development.
Our mutual trade turnover has increased, reaching $1 billion. The countries
have signed mutually beneficial agreements on energy and infrastructure
development,” Sobhani said, adding that the development of relations is also
being considered.
“The unblocking of transport links will facilitate the
development of relations not only between the two countries, but also between
all the countries of the region,” the diplomat noted.
