Aliyev says international bodies should have imposed sanctions on Armenia years ago
Wars, clashes, and conflicts rage in different parts of the world, so what are international organizations or influential countries doing in such cases? They impose sanctions that have a significant impact, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting with residents of Aghdam city.
“If sanctions had been applied to a small and not-so-wealthy country like Armenia, it certainly would have stopped the occupation. However, not only were sanctions not imposed, but, on the contrary, some even supplied them with free weapons — not worth millions, but billions of dollars,” the Azerbaijani president said.
Several international organizations have called for sanctions to be applied against Azerbaijan itself for ethnic cleansing and human rights violations against the Artsakh Armenian population.
