Football players to be arrested in Turkey in illegal betting case

Nearly 30 people in Turkey will soon be arrested in connection with an investigation into illegal betting on football matches, with arrest warrants already issued, Turkish media report.

The new arrests are part of a criminal investigation into illegal football betting.

The Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrest warrants for 14 football players, including Erden Timur, a former executive of Galatasaray.

According to TRT Haber, a total of 29 individuals have been issued arrest warrants, and most of them — 24 people — have already been arrested.
