‘I discussed possible obstacles with Rubio’: Mirzoyan on prisoners in Baku
During an online press conference today, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed a question from ABC Media regarding Armenian prisoners held in Baku, stating that the issue was raised during his meeting with the US secretary of state.
“We discussed with Marco Rubio the possible obstacles that are currently not in line with the emerging trends for peace. Of course, the issue of people detained in Azerbaijan is one of those issues,” Mirzoyan said.
ABC Media’s question was as follows: You have repeatedly emphasized that, on the margins of ongoing negotiations with Azerbaijan, Armenia continues to raise the issue of returning Armenian prisoners held in Baku. However, no significant progress has been achieved so far. Could you clarify whether this issue was discussed during your meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and whether the Armenian side has requested US support or mediation to help resolve it?
