TRIPP unlikely to become operational before elections, Khandanyan says

The TRIPP project will not become operational before the elections, Chairman of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan told journalists.

Speaking about the next steps, Khandanyan said that Armenia and the United States must first prepare a legal framework based on the existing political text. This will be followed by the establishment of a company, the launch of project design work, and only then the start of construction.

“Our expectation and hope is that by the end of this year, we will at least be able to talk about the launch of construction,” he said.

Khandanyan also noted that all security-related issues within the framework of TRIPP will be handled by Armenian law enforcement agencies, with no involvement of other forces.
