EU and Azerbaijan agree to launch feasibility study for railway project in Nakhijevan

The EU and Azerbaijan, in partnership with the European Investment Bank, have agreed to begin a feasibility study for a railway project in Nakhijevan.

According to the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan, the project represents a significant investment for both Azerbaijan and the wider region, aimed at improving mobility and economic flows.

The planned railway will form part of the larger Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, which is designed to connect Europe and Central Asia with an estimated transit time of 15 days.

“Diverse, reliable, and sustainable routes between Europe and Asia serve our shared strategic interests. Their benefits are mutual and help reduce the risks of over-dependence,” the statement said.
