Colombia’s president provides Trump with list of globally wanted drug lords
Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced that he provided US President Donald Trump with a list of drug traffickers living outside Colombia. He stressed the need for joint efforts to pursue them.
“The front line of drug trafficking is made up of those living in Dubai, Madrid, and Miami. I gave President Trump their names and the names of people linked to them. These are the main ringleaders. Their money is outside Colombia, and we must pursue them together by cooperating with intelligence services from different countries,” Petro said at a press conference in Washington following his meeting with the US leader.
According to Petro, the key to combating international drug trafficking is the arrest of the leaders of criminal networks. He noted that some of them are Colombians, but they do not make up the majority.
Trump and Petro held talks at the White House on Feb․ 3. Following the meeting, the US president stated that the two sides had reached an agreement to cooperate in the fight against drug trafficking.
