In 2026, the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity was awarded to PM Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and a representative from Afghanistan.
What is the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity?
The Zayed Award (full name: Zayed Award for Human Fraternity) is a humanitarian initiative that brings together the values of peace, reconciliation, human dignity, and solidarity on a single platform. The award is named in honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates.
The award was established in 2019 following a historic meeting in Abu Dhabi, where Pope Francis and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb jointly signed the Document on Human Fraternity.
Since 2021, the award has been granted to individuals and organizations. Decisions are made by an independent international committee based on nominations.
The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity also comes with a prize fund of around $1 million.
