Aliyev sends letter to Erdogan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey three years ago, Azerbaijani media report.

“In Azerbaijan’s support for the restoration and reconstruction efforts in our brotherly country is a clear expression of our friendly and allied relations. I am confident that the strong unity and strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey, based on the ‘One Nation, Two States’ philosophy, will continue to contribute to the prosperity of our peoples and serve to ensure regional stability, security, and sustainable development,” Aliyev wrote.

The earthquake claimed thousands of lives overnight and destroyed numerous cities and villages.
