Russia’s ambassador in Armenia questions whether EU can match EAEU’s economic benefits for Armenia
Russia’s ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, spoke about the benefits Armenia has received as a member of the EAEU. However, he expressed doubt that the EU could guarantee the same level of economic growth for the country.
“During the years when Armenia has been a full member of the EAEU, its GDP has increased 2.5 times. According to statistics, in the first ten months of last year, Armenia’s total exports amounted to $6.4 billion, of which $2.6 billion went to EAEU countries, mainly to Russia. Russia alone accounts for 37% of Armenia’s exports. The benefits of Armenia’s participation in the EAEU are obvious, but whether the EU can guarantee the same level of economic and social development is a big question,” the Russian diplomat said in an interview with Rossiya-24.
