Peskov describes Ukraine talks as difficult but constructive

Two days of constructive yet very difficult work have taken place and will continue, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters, commenting on the Kremlin’s assessment of the latest negotiations and expectations for further progress, Interfax reports.

Earlier, the same assessment was voiced by US special envoy Steve Witkoff. According to him, the recent talks were constructive, and methods for maintaining a ceasefire were discussed, should such a decision be made.

“The negotiations were constructive. The main topic was ways to create conditions for a lasting peace,” he wrote on social media.

The latest meeting of the Russia–US–Ukraine working group on security issues was held in Abu Dhabi on Feb. 4–5.
