Turkey’s foreign minister says US and Iran show flexibility on nuclear deal
The United States and Iran are willing to compromise on the nuclear deal, and Washington may abandon its demand that Tehran completely halt uranium enrichment, Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Financial Times. According to Fidan, the Americans appear ready to allow Iran to enrich uranium in limited quantities.
“Iranians already understand that they need to reach an agreement with the Americans, and the Americans have realized that the Iranians also have their limits,” Fidan said.
He also stated that excessive US demands on Iran could derail nuclear negotiations and potentially lead to new conflicts in the Middle East.
Fidan noted that if Washington insists on a ‘comprehensive, all-at-once solution,’ particularly by demanding that Tehran abandon its missile program and stop supporting its allies in the region, there will be no progress on the nuclear program, which could ultimately lead to another war in the region.
