‘We have entered a new phase of open conflicts and wars’: German chancellor
The world has entered a new phase marked by open conflicts and wars, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at the Munich Security Conference, which opened today.
“Together, we have entered an era once again defined by power and great-power politics,” Merz stated.
He noted that the main task for Europeans — and Germans in particular — is to accept this new reality.
“This does not mean that we accept it as an inevitable fate. We are not at the mercy of this world. We can shape it,” Merz said.
