US customs to halt collection of import tariffs ruled illegal by Supreme Court
The US Customs and Border Protection agency announced that starting Feb. 24 it will cease collecting import tariffs that were ruled unlawful by the Supreme Court of the United States on Feb. 20, Reuters writes.
The agency did not clarify why it continued to collect the duties for several days following the court’s decision.
In addition, Reuters noted that the statement does not specify whether the sums already collected will be refunded to importers, nor does it outline the procedure for any potential reimbursements.
