Armenia and US abstain from vote on anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution titled “Support for a Long-Lasting Peace in Ukraine.” During a meeting held in New York, representatives of 107 countries voted in favor of the document, which reaffirms Ukraine’s “sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.”

The United States abstained from the vote on the anti-Russian resolution concerning Ukraine at the UN General Assembly. Twelve countries, including Russia, Belarus, Iran, and North Korea, voted against the document prepared by Kyiv. Fifty-one states abstained, among them Armenia, Brazil, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Serbia, the United States, and Uzbekistan.

Unlike resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council, resolutions of the UN General Assembly are not legally binding.
