‘We hope everything develops quickly’: Turkish official on Armenia-Turkey and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations

The normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is directly linked to the resolution of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Fuat Oktay, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly. He noted that these processes are proceeding in parallel.

“We hope that all of this will develop very quickly, and that the region’s agenda will no longer be determined by conflicts, but by peace, prosperity, and development. Moving forward, we will primarily focus on the future,” he said.

The committee chair added that recent developments in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, such as grain transport through Kazakhstan and Russia as well as the initiation of trade links, demonstrate that the Azerbaijani side is confident in its position.

According to him, Azerbaijan has begun implementing agreements in stages, effectively even before the official signing of the agreements and the creation of legal obligations, which the Turkish official described as a very important indicator.
