Overnight, Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reiterated Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s calls for the US to immediately stop military operations and return to dialogue and negotiations.

She stressed that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the Gulf states should be “fully respected.”

As noted, investors have been monitoring whether the military action could throw a wrench in the planned summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping slated for later this month.
