Explosion occurs near synagogue in Belgium’s Liège
An explosion occurred near a synagogue in the city of Liège, Belgium, VRT reports, citing police sources.
No one was injured, but the synagogue suffered material damage, including broken windows. The area around the building was cordoned off, and the street was closed.
Liège Mayor Willy Demeyer described the incident as a “violent act of anti-Semitism.”
“It is unacceptable that we are bringing conflicts from abroad into our city,” Demeyer said.
Liège police’s counter-terrorism unit is investigating the incident.
