Dutch gynecologist secretly fathers at least 16 children using his own sperm

In the Netherlands, a gynecologist secretly used his own sperm during artificial inseminations in the 1970s and 1980s, fathering at least 16 children, RIA Novosti writes, citing an independent investigation conducted by Rijnstate Hospital.

The hospital released a report on past errors in its donor sperm program. The investigation began after the former gynecologist admitted that he had used his own sperm for artificial insemination during the 1970s and 1980s.

“He did this without the parents’ knowledge. Recently, he participated in DNA testing. So far, 16 donor-conceived children have been identified,” the report states.

It was also revealed that the doctor is a carrier of a hereditary disease. As a result, the medical institution is urging any potential children of this doctor to provide their DNA to the Fiom Center for further study.
