Putin and Aliyev discuss situation in Middle East

Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev and expressed gratitude to Iran for its assistance in organizing the evacuation of Russian citizens, RIA Novosti writes.

“During the exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East, the leaders spoke in favor of the rapid cessation of hostilities and the resolution of the current acute conflict through political and diplomatic means,” the Kremlin said.

They also discussed bilateral issues and reaffirmed their commitment to developing Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation.
