‘We do not want 20 plus more years of bloodletting’, US counterterrorism center former director says

Joe Kent, former director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, has said the US is at a critical juncture in the war in Iran, adding that “we need to let our leaders hear that we do not support this war.”

“We want to bring our troops home. We want to work towards peace in that region. We do not want 20 plus more years of bloodletting. And then as we head into this next election cycle, demand from everyone, from every political party, go to them, go to your representatives, and say I will not vote for you if you are going to vote for the continuation of these wars overseas,” Kent stated.

The former official added that he does not expect his country’s leaders to be pacifists. According to him, the US must strike if it is attacked and must strike if there is an imminent threat.

Joe Kent recently resigned from his position as director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, calling on Trump to “reverse course” on Iran.
