Female politician expelled from party over edited photo

A woman has been expelled from a political party in the Netherlands for editing her photo, Oddity Central reports.

A scandal has erupted in Rotterdam around 59-year-old city councilor Patricia Reichman, who used AI to edit her official photograph.

The politician, representing the local Leefbaar Rotterdam party, published an image in which she appeared significantly younger than her actual age.

Reichman herself claimed that she had only “improved the image quality” using an online tool. According to her, the changes in her appearance were due to medication, and the photo does in fact depict her.

Despite this, criticism against her intensified. The party acknowledged that the image had been substantially altered and did not reflect reality. The leadership stated that this constituted a breach of trust and demanded that she resign.

Reichman refused to step down voluntarily, after which the party decided to expel her.
