Russia respects Hungarian people’s choice, Kremlin says
Russia respects the choice of the Hungarian people, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
“We expect to continue our highly pragmatic contacts with Hungary’s new leadership. We have heard statements, particularly about a willingness to engage in dialogue,” the Russian presidential spokesman said.
Peskov added that it is important to observe the actions of Hungary’s new leadership going forward.
Earlier, Péter Magyar, leader of the force that won Hungary’s parliamentary elections, stated that dialogue with Russia is inevitable due to geography and energy dependence.
“If necessary, we will negotiate, but we will not become friends,” Magyar said.
