Russian Defense Ministry: Ukraine fired an S-200 surface-to-air missile into Belgorod
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the air defense systems shot down an S-200 surface-to-air missile in Belgorod Oblast. Victims have not been reported, kommersant.ru writes.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has not yet commented on the information.
“At 7:00 a.m., a Kyiv-launched S-200 surface-to-air missile attack was foiled,” reads the statement released by the Defense Ministry.
The shelling of Belgorod Oblast has become more frequent since mid-December last year. On Dec. 30, Belgorod came under heavy shelling. As a result, 25 people, including five children, were killed, and another 109 people were injured. Vyacheslav Gladkov offered to help the residents of Belgorod to temporarily move to other cities. Over 100 people accepted the offer and were evacuated.
