 French national arrested in France on espionage suspicion

Azerbaijani Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva has reported French national Martin Ryan’s arrest in Baku in early December 2023. Ryan was arrested on suspicion of espionage.

“French national Martin Ryan, suspected of being engaged in espionage activities, was arrested in Azerbaijan on Dec. 4, 2023,” Abdullayeva said to AFP.

As she noted, Ryan, who was the director general of “MERKORAMA” LLC, has been sentenced to four months in prison.
