Blinken discusses with Aliyev and Pashinyan peace agreement possibility

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed with
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev
the possibility of a peace agreement between the two countries. Spokesperson
for the U.S. Department of State Matthew Miller wrote this on his X
account.

In a conversation with Aliyev, the U.S. Secretary of State
noted that the long-standing conflict has caused Armenia and Azerbaijan
suffering and “underscored the benefits that peace would bring to everyone in
the region”. Blinken also discussed the relations between the U.S. and
Azerbaijan, noting recent points of concern (Azerbaijan had refused to attend
the meeting scheduled for Washington because of the U.S. position).

Miller also noted that Secretary of State Blinken discussed
with Pashinyan “U.S. support” for efforts to reach a peace agreement between
Armenia and Azerbaijan. Blinken reaffirmed U.S. support for Armenia’s
sovereignty and territorial integrity, and outlined the efforts to increase
bilateral cooperation with Armenia.
