Stoltenberg: Sweden’s accession will strengthen the entire alliance

Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg has welcomed Hungary’s willingness to approve Sweden’s membership in NATO. 

“I welcome the clear message from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his government. I hope Hungary will ratify Sweden’s membership in NATO,” the alliance’s secretary general said, noting that he had a telephone conversation with Orban. 

Stoltenberg also thanked the Turkish Parliament and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for approving Sweden’s membership in the alliance.

“Sweden’s accession will strengthen the entire alliance,” Stoltenberg said.
