Ukraine ready to receive F-16 fighter jets

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov announced on Ukrainian Channel 24 that Ukraine is going to receive the F-16 fighter jets.

In late January, Adviser to the Ukrainian Air Force Yuriy Ignat had said that their partners were ready to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv, but not everything was ready for the receipt.

“Infrastructure for the F-16s is being prepared; our partners are providing us with utmost aid. I will not say exactly what kind of infrastructure it is and where it is stationed, but this is a complex act, and everything goes ahead as planned,” Danilov said.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that a coalition of 11 countries will begin training Ukrainian pilots to operate the F-16 fighter jets. According to the Ukrainian defense minister, the coalition includes Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the U.K..
