Borrell goes to bomb shelter as Russia attacks

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, who had arrived in Kyiv yesterday, had to spend the morning in a shelter.

“Starting my morning in the shelter as air alarms are sounding across Kyiv. This is the daily reality of the brave Ukrainian people, since Russia launched its illegal aggression,” he made an X post on this.

Borrell also published a photo from the shelter.

The Russian forces launched a major missile attack on Ukraine, the command of the Ukrainian Air Force reports.

An air alert was issued across the country early in the morning, which was later called off.

Air defense systems were run in Kyiv; several explosions occurred in the city, Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko said.

Missile pieces fell in Dnieper region. Two people were injured, two high-voltage lines and heating systems were damaged. As a result, some people on the left bank of the Dnieper were left without electricity, Klitschko added.

As a result, a fire broke out in an apartment building in Holosiivskyi District. One person was injured, and the electricity grid was damaged.

During the attack, explosions also took place in Kharkiv. According to Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv Oblast, strikes were made in Slobidskyi District of the city; non-residential infrastructure was damaged. Early reports say casualties were not caused.

The Russian forces also made drone and missile attacks on Mykolaiv Oblast, the governor of the oblast, Vitalii Kim, said. About 20 residential buildings were damaged, and a fire broke out in a part of the underground gas pipeline.
