Russian Deputy Foreign Minister: The outbreak of any “hot” phase of confrontation in no way contributes to the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan
Russia has always called on both sides of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict settlement process to show maximum restraint along the line of contact. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said this in an interview to Izvestia, referring to the Feb.13 Azerbaijani fire on the Armenian positions in Nerkin Hand, as a result of which the Armenian side suffered four losses.
“With regard to the incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone, I would like to reiterate our call on both sides to show mutual restraint so that incidents do not happen, especially in terms of shootings and victims. Such incidents, of course, cannot contribute to the creation of a favorable environment for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I repeat once again that the outbreak of any “hot” phase of confrontation, in no way contributes to the environment of joint steps toward the normalization of relations and the promotion of the peace process,” Galuzin said.
