Armenia to receive MArG 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers from India
Bharat Forge, an Indian manufacturer of artillery systems,
has confirmed that MArG 155 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, recently
demonstrated, are intended for Armenia.
As Armenpresswrites, the Indian Defense Research Wing
(IDRW) reported this. The IDRW notes that this is a significant achievement for
India in its efforts to export its defense equipment to international partners.
“The deal with Armenia builds upon a growing strategic
partnership between the two nations, with India emerging as a key supplier of
defense equipment to Armenia. In 2020, Armenia acquired four Swathi mobile
radar units from India, and in September 2022, a $245 million contract was signed
for the purchase of Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, anti-tank rockets,
and various types of ammunition,” the IDRW writes.
“The MArG 155mm / 39 cal – BR represents a cutting-edge
artillery system, embodying power, precision, and mobility. Equipped with a
155mm 39 caliber gun and 4 x 4 wheeled chassis, it offers exceptional
all-terrain maneuverability. Its ability to negotiate gradients up to 30° and
its “shoot and scoot” capability make it a versatile and formidable weapon in
modern combat scenarios,” the IDRW added.
