Azerbaijan could launch a new attack on Armenia, Freedom House: Previous day recapped

The international human rights organization Freedom House has published its annual report, titled “Freedom in the World 2024”, where it is noted that in 2023 global freedom declined, registering a fall for the 18th year in a row.

In the report, the military operations of Azerbaijan against Artsakh, the blockade of the Lachin corridor, and the deportation of local Armenians are also mentioned as reasons for the global peace decline.

“The seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh boosted the domestic popularity of President Ilham Aliyev, who has ruled Azerbaijan since 2003, and raised fears that the Azerbaijani leadership could launch a new, full-scale invasion of the Republic of Armenia, the borders of which have already been violated,” reads the report.
