Tiran Khachatryan: I would never do such a thing; I didn’t mean to shoot at anyone
Lt. Gen. Tiran Khachatryan, who was released from custody on bail of five million drams, told the press that he is satisfied with the court decision.
“It is of course clear that the decision is not final, but for this part, yes, I am satisfied,” National Hero of Armenia, Lt. Gen. Tiran Khachatryan said.
Khachatryan noted that as the investigation is underway, he cannot provide details.
“I also said in my testimony that I am not guilty of what happened. By my nature, character and essence, I would never do such a thing,” Khachatryan said.
Regarding the shot heard at the scene and the person injured as a result, Khachatryan says, “Follow the developments, and it will be clear for you under what circumstances the shot was fired and how that person got injured. I had no wish to shoot or injure anyone, nor did I make an attempt, although I had the chance to do much worse things,” he said.
Khachatryan believes that his arrest has a political character.
“I felt such a thing toward my personality from the outset, during the investigation,” he noted.
To remind, two months ago, an argument took place with Tiran Khachatryan’s participation; during the argument, Khachatryan shot into the air with his weapon. Afterward, he was arrested and taken into custody for two months.
According to the prosecutor’s decision, a public criminal prosecution was brought against Tiran Khachatryan under Part 3 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code: “hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon or the threat of using it”.
