The refusal by the EU ambassadors in Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov raises questions as to what activities they undertake in Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said this.
Earlier, Lavrov said that he had invited the EU ambassadors to a meeting for clarifications before the presidential elections in Russia, but they refused to meet two days before the planned event. Lavrov also noted that Russia has information on preparations made by EU embassies in Moscow to use mechanisms to support non-systemic opposition.
“It really raises a question, and everyone wants to know what these people are up to in our country, if they do not perform their principal function,” Zakharova said.
