Reuters: Hamas proposes releasing Israeli women and children in exchange for Palestinian prisoners

Hamas has proposed releasing Israeli women and children in the initial stage of a possible ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of up to 1,000 Palestinian prisoners, Reuters reports, making reference to the proposal document.

The proposal presented by Hamas suggests that in the first stage, as part of a possible ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of Israelis would include women, children, the elderly and wounded hostages, captured in action.

Hamas is also ready to release Israeli female soldiers. In exchange, Israel must release 700–1,000 Palestinians held in the prisons of the Jewish state. Moreover, 100 of these prisoners have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

When the initial stage ends, Hamas proposes to agree on the date of a permanent truce in the Gaza Strip and the dates of the withdrawal of the Israeli military. The second stage suggests the release of all hostages.
