EU summit opening in Brussels

In a two-day summit in Brussels, due to start on March 21, EU leaders will discuss the issue of further aid provision to Ukraine, the EU security and defense, the situation in the Middle East, agriculture, EU enlargement, foreign policy, migration and economy, Reuters reports.

President of the European Council Charles Michel wrote in his invitation letter for the summit that the quick provision of military aid to Ukraine is one of the priority tasks of the union.

“Urgency, intensity and unwavering determination are imperative,” Reuters quoted from the invitation letter.

Based on the European Commission’s proposals, EU leaders are expected to discuss the European Defence Industry Strategy and the European Defence Investment Programme.

At the end of the meeting, the EU leaders together with their counterparts from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
