Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office: The actions of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan grossly violate the principles of international law

On April 6, the staff of the Human Rights Defender received alerts regarding the shootings by the armed forces of Azerbaijan in the direction of Movses, Chinar, Aygepar and Nerkin Karmiraghbyur settlements of Tavush region, the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office reports.

“The staff of the Defender is monitoring and collecting facts. According to the information received at the moment, as a result of the fire launched by the Azerbaijani armed forces, civilian infrastructures were damaged: houses, gravestones, and a civilian car.

The shootings of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the immediate vicinity of the villages of the Republic of Armenia also have the purpose of terrorizing the civilian population, keeping them in a constant state of stress and anxiety.

The Defender emphasizes that these actions grossly violate the principles of international law, pose a real threat to the right to life, safety of citizens, as well as other fundamental rights,” the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s Office said in a statement.
