The Wall Street Journal: Egypt has refused to ensure security in Gaza in case of Hamas’s defeat

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has rejected Central
Intelligence Agency Director William Burns’s proposal to ensure security in the
Gaza Strip until the Palestinian Authority can take over after Hamas’s possible
defeat, The Wall Street Journal writes.

“Abdel Fattah al-Sisi rejected the proposal, noting that
Egypt will not play a role in eliminating Hamas,” reads the publication.

As the newspaper writes, the president of Egypt has stated
that Egypt needs the militant group to help maintain security along its
borders.
