Patrushev: Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be normalized if non-regional forces stop interfering

The conflict settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia will
be possible only when non-regional forces stop interfering in the conflict.
However, the actions of the West are only exacerbating the situation. Secretary
of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev said this at a meeting with
CIS partners in Moscow.

“We are also interested in the stabilization of the
situation in the South Caucasus by creating necessary conditions for that and
developing mutual trust and cooperation,” he said.

As Patrushev noted, Russia is consistently taking steps
toward the comprehensive normalization of relations between Armenia and
Azerbaijan, thus working toward the conclusion of a peace treaty between these
countries, border demarcation and the opening of transport links.

“As we have seen, this will be possible only if non-regional
forces do not interfere. The actions of the Western countries aggravate the
situation in the region and conduce to the continuity of conflicts there,”
Patrushev noted.
