At an event titled “Team Europe Initiative on Mine Action”, European Commission Director General for Neighbourhood & Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman said that the EU will finance Azerbaijan’s mine action program.
He noted that the initiative announced today is supported by 10 EU member states and that this number will further increase.
Koopman added that €8 million has been allocated to Azerbaijan within this initiative since 2020, and an additional €2 million will be allocated now. According to him, plans are afoot to increase that amount to €13 million.
