Anahit Avanesyan: We will be able to put the smallpox vaccination into use in Armenia
We have received an allocation for the national immunization
program. It has been increased by 16.4%, amounting to 728 million drams. This
will enable us to put the smallpox vaccination into use in our country.
Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said this today at the discussions
on the 2024 state budget, referring to the 2024 allocations for the health
sector.
“This will contribute to the health and occupational
competence of children and conscripts. It is also a very important solution in
terms of security.
I have mentioned this, as smallpox is a particularly
virulent disease. If a child is infected with smallpox in one group in the
kindergarten, everyone there contracts it. Severe cases are also reported,”
Avanesyan said.
