They created a rift among the people of the village talking about some kind of compensation: Kirants resident about meeting with governor
In the school of Kirants village, Tavush Province, Governor Hayk Ghalumyan had a meeting with the people of Kirants. After the meeting, ABC media talked with the residents to find out what they talked about.
According to one of the residents, they were told nothing new; lands and houses will come under Azerbaijani control.
“There is a map of the village showing that these lands are Armenian. Now, I can’t say how it turned out that way. They are once again here to lie us into agreeing to these conditions. They came and created a rift among us: Some agree with the delimitation, some do not,” Gharib Abalyan, a resident of Kirants village, said.
Abalyan also spoke about some compensations offered to the residents. He noted that no land is returned as a result of the border delimitation; on the contrary, lands are being ceded.
“We cultivate our lands; there is no piece of land that we do not cultivate; we cultivate every plot of land. From the territory of our Armenia (person’s name), who built a house in that part of the land back in the ’70s, a part of that house will also come under the enemy’s control. It is not possible. The bridge, which is even older, comes under their control as well. I am 65 now and I was seven years old when that bridge was being built. They used excavators, bringing some equipment to build that bridge; we, being children, would swim in the river. Now how can they say that it belongs to Azerbaijan?” the resident of Kirants said.
To remind, ABC media’s camera crew is currently working in Kirants and is covering the events taking place there with a live broadcast.
