Politico: The EU intends to start talks on the membership of Moldova and Ukraine in June
On June 25, the EU intends to start official negotiations on Moldova’s and Ukraine’s membership in the organization, Politico reports, referring to five diplomats.
The newspaper notes that the EU member states announced this intention back in December 2023, but the formal process to start membership talks was held up by opposition from Hungary and fears that the EU enlargement topic could become an issue of the European Parliament election, scheduled for June 6–9.
