Institute for the Study of War: Pashinyan’s statement is part of his efforts to distance Armenia from Russia in the political and security spheres
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) wrote that Pashinyan’s remark that Russia helped Azerbaijan prepare for the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war is part of Pashinyan’s ongoing criticism about Armenian-Russian relations and his efforts to distance Armenia from Russia in the political and security spheres.
Parallel to that, a big rally is planned in Armenia on May 26 against the border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The current protests are the biggest in the past six years. In terms of size, they can be compared with the protests led by Nikol Pashinyan in 2018. MP Garnik Danielyan, a member of Dashnaktsutyun, raised the alarm about unprecedented levels of pressure on residents of border villages. According to him, the goal of the Tavush movement is Pashinyan’s resignation, for which they will fight to the end. According to Danielyan, it is necessary that 200–300 thousand people come out and put pressure on the Government as well as the Parliament.
