State Department: The United States strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia

Any violation of Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial
integrity will have serious consequences. The U.S. Department of State
responded to the Armenian Service of Voice of America with regard to the alert
issued by the Lemkin Institute on Armenia and Azerbaijan. 

“The United States strongly supports the sovereignty and
territorial integrity of Armenia. We have noted that any violation of that sovereignty
and territorial integrity will lead to serious consequences. We regularly
reiterate what we expect, i.e. our urge against the use of force. We keep
observing the situation. Armenia is a close partner and friend of the United
States, and we expect to work with the Armenian authorities to tighten up the
political and economic security of that country,” the State Department noted.

To remind, on Oct. 31, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide
Prevention raised a Red Flag Alert and voiced deep concern about a possibility
of an invasion of Armenia by Azerbaijan in the coming days and weeks.
