Spain, Ireland and Norway officially recognize Palestinian statehood
The Spanish Government has officially recognized Palestine as a sovereign state, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said. Later, the Irish Government announced the recognition of Palestinian statehood.
“Today, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers, we decided to recognize the State of Palestine,” Albares said at a press conference. According to the minister, this is the only way to make peace in the Middle East.
“For more than 30 years, Norway has been one of the biggest supporters of the creation of a Palestinian state. Today, Norway’s official recognition of Palestine as a state is an important milestone in the relations between Norway and Palestine,” Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said.
