Pashinyan is trying to destroy national history, while the Armenian Church has raised the flag of sovereignty: World media on Armenia

Nikol Pashinyan showed that a pro-Western leader is one who is particularly needed to destroy national and cultural history, Tsargrad writes in an article. As noted, Nikol Pashinyan is trying to ban the Armenian Apostolic Church in Armenia. “In this sense, Pashinyan’s actions do not look hysterical, but rather consistent and logical. He is gradually leading Armenia to the West on every pretext,” reads the article.

In a conversation with Svobodnaya Pressa, Stanislav Tarasov, an expert on the Middle East and Caucasus issues, said that Pashinyan presents the cession of territories as a victory. “Previously, protests in Armenia were led by representatives of different political parties and by people close to them. Now, it is being done by the Church, which throughout Armenian history has always preserved the nation in conditions when there was no statehood, faith, culture or traditions. Now it has raised the flag of sovereignty, which is a problem for Pashinyan,” Tarasov said.

The Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of North America condemned the incident in Sardarapat, where the police tried to prevent the entry of the Catholicos of All Armenians into the memorial complex. “With great pain, we have to admit that what happened was a shameful and unprecedented phenomenon. Such actions of the police against the Catholicos of All Armenians are beyond common sense,” the diocese said in a statement.
