Russian political scientist: Russia is an unofficial “moderator” of peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan
Russian cooperation with Turkey and Iran opens up new security opportunities in the South Caucasus, political scientist Stanislav Pritchin said. In the case of the conflict resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan, it will be possible to form a special South Caucasus security area and a political dialogue based on the “3+3” format. According to the political scientist, this platform will provide opportunities for economic cooperation in the region. He also highly appreciated Russia’s role in the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Russia is an unofficial “moderator” of peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, despite the transition of the two countries to the format of bilateral talks,” he noted.
The political scientist also talked about the relations between Moscow and Baku. In his opinion, the similarity of the approaches of Moscow and Baku contributes to the formation of an independent regional system, and their interaction has acquired a character of an equal strategic partnership. He added that the absence of troops of one country on the territory of another will contribute to the development of relations.
