Outgoing Dutch prime minister to become NATO’s secretary general

Mark Rutte, the outgoing prime minister of the Netherlands, will become the new secretary general of NATO. The president of Romania, who was his only rival in the race for the post, will soon support his candidacy, the Dutch NOS TV channel reports, referring to its sources.

“Mark Rutte will become the secretary general of NATO. Now, when Hungary also fully supports Rutte’s candidacy, all we have to do is wait for the response of the only opposing candidate, i.e., Romanian President Klaus Iohannis,” the TV channel reported.
